(L-R): NHS Board Member Antoinette Pabon Green of Quincy; Joseph Silva, Jr. of HarborOne Bank, resident of Middleboro; and Rob Corley, CEO of NHS, resident of West Roxbury

NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions (NHS), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, announced today that it received a donation of $10,000 from HarborOne Bank in support of its first-time homebuyer education, specifically targeted to the Brockton community.

Founded in 1917 to serve the growing financial needs of local communities, HarborOne continues to honor and embrace its commitment to strengthen and empower the communities where customers and employees live and work. HarborOne’s corporate office is located in Brockton.

NHS serves more than 10,000 individuals and families through their first-time homebuyer classes, which are now offered online and though a hybrid model. For many first-time homebuyers, taking a homebuyer class is mandatory and part of their application process. Unfortunately, attending a class or trying to fit a class into a working family’s schedule can cause significant delays to the potential home buyer’s closing date or cause them the potentially lose out on a home for which they have placed a bid.

This donation will help NHS provide additional homebuyer education and follow up counseling services to prospective buyers who are purchasing their property in Brockton. Additionally, these funds will help NHS provide a rapid turn-around time for the classes and follow-up counseling to those buyers working through the “Building Brockton” program, offered through HarborOne.

“We are so grateful to HarborOne not only for their generosity, but also for their ongoing commitment to this partnership,” said Robert Corley, executive director of NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions. “This program is not only a tremendous benefit for people looking to purchase in Brockton, but will have long-lasting benefits to the community and the many buyers looking for a safe and affordable place to call home.”
