NeighborWorks Housing Solutions Receives $40K Donation from Boston Foundation

NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions (NHS), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, was able to make the recent Thanksgiving holiday a little easier for hundreds of families and individuals thanks to a recent gift from the Boston Foundation.

NHS received a donation of $40,000 from the Boston Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which helped provide Stop & Shop gift cards for more than 200 families in communities served by NHS prior to Thanksgiving. The organization also purchased an additional 50 grocery store gift cards for formerly homeless individuals currently living in supportive housing owned by NHS. All of these cards were hand delivered by NHS staff safely, to ensure everyone received their card in time for the holiday.

As greater Boston’s community foundation since 1915, the Boston Foundation (www.tbf.org) devotes its resources to building and sustaining a vital, prosperous city and region, where justice and opportunity are extended to everyone.

“We are so grateful to the Boston Foundation for this incredibly generous and timely gift,” said Robert Corley, executive director of NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions. “The holidays can be a time of anxiety and stress for individuals and families struggling financially. This gift definitely helped to ease the burden for hundreds of families, offering some food security at a time when there is still so much uncertainty.”

“We are pleased to have been able to support NeighborWorks Housing Solutions through our partnership with the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund,” said Orlando Watkins, Vice President for Programs at the Boston Foundation. “As we continue to deal with the long-term economic and social impacts of COVID-19, we all must do our part to support the critical work that NHS and other organizations are doing to provide basic needs and ease the burden on families across the state.”
