South Shore Habitat for Humanity (http://sshabitat.org), which has delivered quality housing in partnership with families in need for the past 32 years, has named Dominique Mathieu to its Board of Directors.

In this role, he will work with the other board members and Executive Director Martine Taylor to further the organization’s work to help provide housing for people in need. Since its founding in 1986, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has completed 64 homes in 21 towns, helping more than 104 adults and 204 children build a place to call home. The organization serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. Building is scheduled for Easton, Westwood and Hingham and the organization continues to look for buildable land in all of our 35 communities.

Mathieu recently retired following a career in management consulting that spanned four decades. Most recently, he was an Engagement Partner with Tata Consultancy Services. Over the years, Mathieu led teams working with senior business and technology executives across multiple industries.

Mathieu, who holds an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, has a long history of volunteerism, including work with Habitat for Humanity, Young Life, and mission work in Haiti when he lived in Glencoe, Illinois. Additional not-for-profit leadership includes volunteering with the Archdiocese of Boston where he translates evangelical documentation for the benefit of French speaking ethnic parishes.

A resident of Duxbury, Mathieu and his wife Nancy have three children and four grandchildren.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Dominique to our Board of Directors,” stated Martine Taylor, Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity. “His heartfelt capacity to give back, desire to ‘make the world a better place’ and strong commitment to the important work we do is unquestionable; we look forward to his input and are certain he will be a highly valued member of our board.”

About South Shore Habitat for Humanity

The Mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing. Families put in “sweat equity hours” alongside local volunteers on the building of their home and purchase the home with a 30-year, affordable mortgage. Homes do have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing. The organization’s headquarters are located at 20 Mathewson Drive in Weymouth, MA but they serve 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. To date, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has delivered 64 homes to local families on the South Shore. Currently, the organization has a strategic plan to build twelve homes by 2020, which is on pace to deliver another 58 homes in a little less than a decade.
