South Shore Habitat for Humanity, which has delivered quality housing in partnership with families in need for more than 33 years, has named Susan Solis to its Board of Directors.

In this role, he will work with the other board members and Executive Director Martine Taylor to further the organization’s work to help provide housing for people in need. Since its founding in 1986, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has completed 68 homes in 21 towns, helping more than 103 adults and 204 children build a place to call home. The organization serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. Building is scheduled for Easton, Westwood and Hingham and the organization continues to look for buildable land in all of our 35 communities.

Solis became a Realtor® in 2010 following a successful 36-year career as an interior designer and professional stager for a local real estate company. A resident of Norwell, Solis is president of the Norwell Chamber of Commerce.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Susan to our Board of Directors,” stated Martine Taylor, Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity. “Her commitment to this region and dedication to the important work we do is undeniable; we look forward to her input and are certain she will be a highly valued member of our board.”

About South Shore Habitat for Humanity

The Mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing. Families put in “sweat equity hours” alongside local volunteers on the building of their home and purchase the home with a 30-year, affordable mortgage. Homes do have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing. South Shore Habitat for Humanity offers a “hand-up, not a hand-out,” said Martine Taylor. “Habitat does not build these homes; the local communities do. We are so very grateful to all of our donors and supporters for their contributions and for making homeownership a reality for these families.
