Break a Leg Theater Works to Hold Two Summer Camps

6/12/19

One geared toward high schoolers and one for aspiring actors in grades 3-8

Break a Leg Theater Works (www.breakalegtheater.com), one of the premier performing arts programs on the South Shore, has recently announced it will hold two summer camp programs geared toward developing aspiring young musical actors.

“Kids on Broadway” will run from July 22 through July 26 and will offer practical lessons for children in grades three through eight interested in musical theater. “Broadway Backwards,” which offers a look at Broadway through new perspectives for high-school-aged performers, will be held from July 29 through August 2. Both camps will be held at Live Love Dance in Carver, and a joint performance will follow at the Spire Center in Plymouth on Sunday, August 4.

2019 marks the third summer in a row that Break a Leg Theater has offered supplemental acting classes in addition to their planned shows. This summer, Break a Leg will be producing three shows: Guys and Dolls, Jr. (June 14-16; Bay Farm Montessori Academy, Duxbury); Cabaret(July 12-14; BC High, Dorchester); and Shrek the Musical (August 16-18; Derby Academy, Hingham).

“We formed Break a Leg with the idea that kids would come as they are, and we can meet them where they’re at and help make them be the best they can each be,” said Break a Leg co-founder and director Kyle Wrentz. “Our summer camps are a great opportunity to do that, and to help kids who are interested in trying out something new or in honing their skills to do so in a supportive environment.”

“We’re looking forward to another great summer with exciting programming for our developmental camps,” added Healy Sammis, co-founder and director of Break a Leg. “We encourage any child or young adult with an interest in musical theater to learn more about what we offer!”
