BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Boston Corporate Finance Community (BCFC), a collaboration of Boston-based companies active in the corporate finance industry, announced the date for the 2nd annual BCFC Gathers to Give Back celebration on Thursday, October 10. At the event, the group will raise funds on behalf of More Than Words and honor Bill Mayer, executive vice president and group head, Wells Fargo Equipment Finance.
BCFC is honoring Mayer for his commitment and passion to supporting the community where he lives and works. Mayer worked closely with Vibrant Boston, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage youth and families in education, enrichment and wellness, to provide a safe out-of-school time environment for young people living in the Lenox Camden Housing Developments in Roxbury, Mass. Bill also helped launch and establish the Wells Fargo New England Partnering Board to support organizations across New England that focus on education, job training, and affordable housing.
“Bill embodies the spirit of a true community champion and he is dedicated to helping others, whether through volunteering, providing career advice to young professionals or establishing a scholarship for students in need at his alma mater Penn State,” said Ward Mooney, BCFC founding partner. “The Boston Corporate Finance Community looks forward to recognizing Bill and directing support to More Than Words to continue their incredible growth and impact.”
BCFC was formally created in 2018 with the goal of establishing an annual and unique celebration that would serve as a premiere networking event for finance professionals in Boston and create a long-term partnership with an outstanding nonprofit organization serving local youth. The founding partners of BCFC are made up of leaders from Crystal Financial, Riemer & Braunstein LLP, Gordon Brothers and Wells Fargo.
After a diligent and thorough search for a high impact, results driven organization, the committee selected More Than Words as its nonprofit partner. More Than Words is a social enterprise that annually empowers 350 young adults who are in the foster care system, court-involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a $4 million bookselling business.
The inaugural year of BCFC Gathers to Give Back brought 300 guests together and raised more than $325,000 from 45 companies across the Boston corporate finance community.
