In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, Apothecare Pharmacy recently pledged a gift of $15,000 to Road To Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful non-profit organizations. RTR provides homes, jobs and supportive services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and many others, throughout the South Shore and South Coast.

Apothecare (www.apothecareinc.com) is a long-time supporter of Road To Responsibility. This gift, which is at the Leadership Sponsor Level for the Making Lives Better Gala planned for late September, marks the second year in a row that Apothecare has supported RTR at this level.

Apothecare is an independently owned long-term care pharmacy focused on providing the highest quality pharmaceutical care to the patients they serve. In addition to supporting Road To Responsibility philanthropically over the last several years, they also work with RTR, providing the prescribed medication to individuals in all of RTR’s homes, and in specialized packaging for each individual. Apothecare has been providing these services to RTR for more than five years.

Apothecare Pharmacy is also in the midst of a major $5 million expansion that will more than quintuple their current space. The expansion is needed in part due to the company’s tremendous growth; they are expanding from serving only Massachusetts and Rhode Island and will now maintain a service area that spans across New England and potentially beyond the region.

With this expansion, Rudy Dajie, president and CEO of Apothecare Pharmacy, has also consciously made the decision to reinvest in his Brockton community. The expanded company will result in adding a number of local jobs, as well as increasing the city’s tax base.

“We are very grateful to Apothecare Pharmacy for their generous gift, and also for their continued partnership with our organization over the years,” said Christopher White, Ed.D., CEO of Road To Responsibility, Inc. “With their assistance we are able to continue to grow and strengthen the services provided by RTR, which are vital to our community. We are so appreciative of their support.”

About Road To Responsibility, Inc.

Celebrating over 30 years of making lives better, Road To Responsibility, Inc. (RTR) was established in 1988 with the overarching belief that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to have full, rich, and rewarding lives in the community, and therefore works to provide the means, the opportunity, and the support necessary to allow citizens with disabilities to take their place as productive members of the community. RTR offers residential, work/employment, day habilitation and other day supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. RTR supports individuals with very diverse needs, including those with significant challenges who would otherwise go unserved if not for RTR. It succeeds where other organizations often fail, through the use of an integrated clinical behavioral approach. This model has proven successful and yielded positive results for the organization and the individuals served.

Road To Responsibility offers services to almost all the towns and communities throughout the South Shore and South Coast of Massachusetts, operates 48 residences as well as co-operative and supportive living apartments, and manages nine day-service locations that focus on education, employment, and community enrichment. Road To Responsibility’s main office is located at 1831 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA. For more information, please visit www.roadtoresponsibility.org.
