Pickard Chilton,an award-winning architecture studio best known for its innovative and cutting-edge design of corporate headquarters and campuses,announces the promotion of eight of its talented architects and designers.

Michael Hensley AIA, RIBA, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP has been elevated to Senior Associate from Associate, and David Brown AIA, LEED GA; Stephen V. Harris AIA; Owen T. Howlett AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP; Rachel L. Howlett AIA, WELL AP; Adrienne Nelson AIA, LEED GA; Rodney Nelson; and Andrew J. Swartzell LEED AP have been namedAssociate.

“These studio members have consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to design excellence, dedication to exceptional client service, a depth of skill and knowledge, and thoughtful, effective mentorship and will be instrumental to the guidance and longevity of the firm,” said William D. Chilton FAIA, RIBA, principal of Pickard Chilton.

Michael Hensley has led the design team for several significant headquarters and high-rise office projects such as 1144 Fifteenth Street in Denver, 3001 Turtle Creek Boulevard in Dallas, The Atrium in Dubai, and the 1000+ meter Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Hensley is currently leading the studio’s research efforts on mass timber for office developments, serves as Chair of the studio’s Technology Committee, and is a member of the Sustainability Committee.

In addition to Mr. Hensley’s promotion, seven of the firm’s designers and architects were elevated to Associate, including:

• David Brown, who is currently the project manager for an office tower in a mixed-use master plan development in Houston. Mr. Brown has been a key member of the design team for award-winning projects such as the ExxonMobil Energy Center and is project manager for 145 Broadway, Akamai’s new headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts currently under construction.

• Stephen Harris is currently project manager for a high-rise multi-family development in Houston. He recently served as project leader for Hines’ 110 10^th Street, a mixed-use high-rise in the Miami Worldcenter development. Internally, Mr. Harris leads the studio’s recruiting efforts.

• Owen Howlett has been leading the design teams for several large-scale, mixed-usemaster plans including significant developments in California, Asia, and Germany. Other recent projects include a master plan design in Washington, D.C.,an office project in Tampa, and a supertall tower in Dubai.

• Rachel Howlett is currently project manager for a large corporate campus in Silicon Valley. Previously, she was the project manager for 900 New York Avenue, an office building in Washington, D.C., and project architect directing River Point in Chicago. In 2018, she received the Pickard Chilton Traveling Fellowship and traveled to Scandinavia to study 20th Century Nordic design and architecture.

• Adrienne Nelson is serving as project manager for 325 Main Street, a corporate office tower in Cambridge. Previously, she was a key contributor to 2+U, an office tower and public plaza in Seattle, Washington. She was recently an AIA Connecticut board member, and is the co-chair of the AIA Emerging Professionals. Ms. Nelson is also a board member for the New Haven chapter of the ACE Mentor Program.

• Rodney Nelson is currently leading the design of a corporate headquarters and a high-rise office tower, both in Atlanta. He has been a key design team member for significant headquarters and high-rise projects including the Northwestern Mutual Headquarters and Commons in Milwaukee; the ExxonMobil Global Campus in Houston; and, the Devon Energy Center in Oklahoma City. Mr. Nelson brings a deep knowledge and skill in photography to his work throughout the studio.

• Andrew J. Swartzell is the studio’s Director of Design Computing and creates and integrates technologies at the forefront of the AEC industry, ensuring the studio teams have the latest computational design tools and knowledge. He is currently collaborating on a master plan for a large-scale, mixed-use development in California. Mr. Swartzell was recently the design team leader for the UBER Sky Tower, which has been recently been recognized with several design awards.
