Private Advisor Group's Chief Compliance Officer, Pat Sullivan, Earns National Recognition for Philanthropy as a Finalist

7/18/18

Pat Sullivan, Managing Director of Private Advisor Group in Morristown, NJ has been announced as one of three national finalists for the Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the twelfth annual Invest in Others Awards. Sullivan is being honored for his work with Good Grief, which will receive a $5,000 donation from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. If Sullivan wins his category, the donation will increase to $25,000.

The Invest in Others Awards program recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world. Advisors are nominated by their peers for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others. There are five award categories for advisors and two for financial services companies.

Invest in Others received hundreds of nominations this year. Individual finalists were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves.

When Pat Sullivan joined the Board of a new nonprofit in his community as Treasurer in 2004, he had little idea how transformative his service with Good Grief would be for him and his family. Good Grief provides free programs to children and families after the death of a mom, dad, sister or brother; educates schools and professionals about loss; and advocates for grieving families locally and throughout the country. The organization currently has two locations in New Jersey, 24 staff members, 264 volunteers and 812 participants. Patrick contributed to this tremendous growth over the past 14 years in incalculable ways, from growing the organization's budget from $200,000 in 2007 to more than $3 million in 2017 and continuing to expand services to reach more children in need of grief counseling.

Initially, Pat was drawn to the organization's mission because he suffered the loss of his own mother at an early age and did not have resources available to help him cope with such a tremendous loss. Over time, though, Pat's appreciation for the work deepened as he realized that Good Grief changes lives by providing grieving families with hope and comfort in their darkest hours. Families are able to access such services -- often for free -- thanks to the tireless work Pat has committed over the past years.

Awards will be presented at the twelfth annual Invest in Others Awards Gala, a premier event attended by nearly 800 financial advisors and financial services executives, on September 27, 2018 in Boston, MA.

About the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation

The inspiration for the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation came directly from the financial advisors who invest in others by giving back to their communities with overwhelming generosity and dedication.
