Erica Hicks, PT and Assistant Manager of the Scituate clinic of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties ran the Boston Marathon this year to raise revenue to help fund 16 cancer research trials through South Shore Health System.

South Shore Health System includes South Shore Hospital, South Shore Medical Center, South Shore VNA, Hospice of the South Shore and a full spectrum of other facilities and services and works in partnership with several Boston-based hospitals.

“Running in the Boston Marathon was such a special experience. It was so rewarding to think of all the people that would benefit from our fundraising efforts, and it really helped motivate me to keep going when the rain and the miles got especially tough,” said Hicks. “Hopefully the research trials will result in break throughs that will help many members of our community overcome this disease.”
