South Shore Habitat for Humanity (http://sshabitat.org), is the recipient of a $50,000 grant from Charlesbank Homes to help them build a six unit development on Temple Street in Duxbury.

The Temple Street project is unique to South Shore Habitat for Humanity as it is comprised of three duplexes, creating six housing units. They will consist of three low and three moderate income housing units. The organization is working in partnership with the town of Duxbury’s Affordable Housing Trust on the project.

Charlesbank Homes is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting organizations that provide affordable housing for the working population. It was established by Edwin Ginn of Winchester in 1914. Ginn was the founder of Ginn & Co., the leading American textbook publisher.

“We are very grateful to have been chosen by Charlesbank Homes to receive this generous grant for our Duxbury multi-unit property,” said Martine Taylor, Executive Director for South Shore Habitat for Humanity. “This grant will go a long way towards our goal of providing affordable housing for six families on the South Shore. We invite people to get involved and donate or volunteer their time and talents toward this important local project.”
