Greg Miller

WELLESLEY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Greg Miller, CPA, CEO and Portfolio Manager of Wellesley Asset Management, Inc. was named to Barron’s list of America’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in its March 12, 2018 publication, also featured in the March 13, 2018 edition of The Wall Street Journal. For the fourth consecutive year, Miller achieved Massachusetts’ #1 ranking in Barron’s most comprehensive list of advisors which is published annually.

Barron’s Special Report accompanying this year’s ranking states, “While many investors find their sleep disturbed by thoughts of volatility, Greg Miller rests easier when volatility is highest. His investment practice focuses heavily on convertible bonds, which can thrive in volatile markets. … Convertibles are one of the few fixed income products that have thrived in periods of rising interest rates and falling stocks.” Speaking with Barron’s about the history of bear markets occurring at least once, and sometimes two or three times every decade since 1896, Miller believes we are overdue for change in the market. Miller said, “Convertibles do well in bear markets, and the time they need to recover from bear markets has generally been shorter than what equity indexes need. This is one of the longest bull markets in American history,” he says. “It’s time for investors and advisors to be very cautious.”

“Although we have business around the country, it’s very special to be ranked #1 in our home state of Massachusetts, especially considering the proliferation of quality financial firms in the Boston area,” said Darlene Murphy, CPA, CFP®, President and Co-Founder of Wellesley Asset Management.

Michael Miller, Chief Investment Officer added, “We’re very proud of this ranking, and believe it reflects on the unique nature of our investing philosophy and strategy, investing in convertible bonds.”

To be nominated for Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisor listing, advisors must complete an extensive survey about their practice. Barron’s also examines regulatory records, internal company documents, and 100-plus points of data provided by the firm. The criteria for inclusion are total assets under management and revenue generated, as well as the overall quality of the practice. Investment performance is not an explicit criterion, because clients’ investment goals vary. In many cases, the objective is preservation of wealth, rather than extraordinary returns.
