Verrill Dana is pleased to welcome Katherine Chaurette and Sarah Trautz as Counsel in the firm’s Health Care Practice Group in its Boston, Massachusetts office. With the changing landscape of health care and an increasing demand for legal services, the firm’s Health Care Practice Group will now include nearly 20 attorneys.

Katherine Chaurette, most recently the Vice President of Legal and Head of Health Law at Sanofi U.S., has extensive experience providing regulatory, compliance and legal analysis and advice related to pharmaceuticals and other areas of the health care industry. Previously, she was also senior counsel at Genzyme Corporation and a partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart where she worked with Mark Borreliz and Jeff Heidt, who are now both at Verrill Dana, for many years. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester and received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Sarah Trautz previously served as Associate General Counsel at Beth Israel Medical Center and Associate at Ropes & Gray.  Like Kathy she too worked with several of the firm’s attorneys in her prior employments and earned their deep professional respect. She has experience advising the medical research community on a variety of legal and compliance issues, as well as participating in internal and external investigations for the use of animals in research, the expenditure of federal grant funds, and the tracking of controlled substances. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
