Bedford Green Apartments, a community of 69 furnished apartment homes that offers permanent, supportive housing for homeless veterans and those at imminent risk of homelessness, ages 55 and up (and managed by Peabody Properties, a full-service real estate and property management firm), recently welcomed 250 volunteers from The Home Depot and its marketing and online vendor partners to complete a variety of improvement projects throughout its campus. Volunteers also completed projects at New England Center and Home for Veterans in Boston as part of the day of service.
At Bedford Green, volunteers updated the outdoor recreational space for residents and redesigned the interior recreation room, which has been an incredibly popular spot, hosting monthly billiards tournaments and other community events. Additionally, volunteers created custom inspirational murals for residents.
These projects are part of The Home Depot Foundation’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has transformed more than 45,000 homes and facilities for veterans across the country. Giving back to veterans is personal to The Home Depot, as more than 35,000 of the company’s associates have served in the military.
