September 19 ribbon-cutting held to celebrate move to Hingham

South Shore Ballet Theatre, a pre-professional school for ballet students, recently celebrated the opening of its new location at 45 Industrial Park Road in Hingham with a ribbon-cutting, held Thursday, September 19.
The Hingham location is a newly built space for the organization, which was previously located in Hanover for eleven years, and features three state-of-the-art studios, a welcoming reception area, homework and snack area, and faculty office and kitchen space. Each studio includes specially installed flooring to ensure dancer safety, mirrored walls with barres, floor-to-ceiling windows positioned to offer natural lighting and a piano for their in-house accompanist.
State Representative Joan Meschino, along with Lou Rizzo, representing Senator Patrick O’Connor’s office, Hingham Town Administrator Tom Mayo and Selectman Mary Power were among the guests who welcomed South Shore Ballet Theatre to Hingham as a small business owner and also as a supporter of the arts. Citations congratulating South Shore Ballet Theatre on their move and continued growth were also presented by Representative Meschino and Senator O’Connor’s office. The attendees were also treated to three spectacular student performances.
“We are so excited to be located in Hingham, expanding our reach throughout the South Shore, and welcoming new members of the community to our studio,” said Marthavan McKeon, artistic director of the South Shore Ballet Theatre. “We are especially grateful to all who have greeted us so warmly, and we look forward to building relationships with our new Hingham neighbors.”
The South Shore Ballet Theatre is planning later this fall to perform scenes from their “Nutcracker” production at South and Plymouth River Elementary Schools as well as other locations around town.
