Community members, city officials and local businesses to join muralist Adam O’Day to unveil a new mural in Cambridge’s growing Canal District Kendall

BioMed Realty, in cooperation with city officials and local businesses, will host an event to celebrate the unveiling of a new mural on Thursday, October 3, in front of Evoo Restaurant near 5 Broad Canal Way from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Muralist Adam O’Day will join city officials, business leaders and families from around the community to celebrate what is part of the massive effort to revitalize and highlight Cambridge’s Canal District Kendall.

“We’ve been hard at work to bring our vision of the Canal District Kendall to life and are excited to unveil this beautiful mural as part of that effort,” said Andrea Windhausen, Community Manager at BioMed Realty. “With great food to eat, beautiful art to see, innovations to be discovered and new activities to explore, the Canal District Kendall is becoming an even more vibrant and welcoming neighborhood for people to visit.”

Painted on a vent shaft cover outside of Evoo Restaurant, muralist Adam O’Day created a colorful, provocative art piece with vast, vibrant scenery and exquisite detail. Adam is based in Abington, MA and was the winner of Boston’s “Portrait of a City” competition in 2014. The Canal District Kendall is the latest neighborhood to serve as an uncommon canvas for his work.

“Adam is an incredible artist and it’s been amazing to watch him work on this mural,” said Steve Kurland, owner of Evoo Restaurant. “It’s been almost impossible to walk by the mural without stopping to watch him paint. Each time you walk by you’re able to find something new, the level of detail is incredible. We’re so grateful that Canal District Kendall will be part of his portfolio of urban artwork.”
