Veteran residents from Bedford Green Apartments in Bedford, Pleasant Street Apartments in Beverly, and Howard Apartments in Brockton, all managed by full-service real estate and property management firm Peabody Properties, Inc. (PPI, www.peabodyproperties.com), recently enjoyed an all-expenses-paid day trip to Boston, featuring lunch at the Union Oyster House and a visit to the New England Aquarium.

The idea for the outing initially came as a result of the holiday generosity of PPI team members. As the plan came together, other organizations were inspired to help make the outing memorable – Supreme Charter of Middleton greatly discounted their fee for transporting the Pleasant Street residents to and from Boston, the Union Oyster House in Boston offered a substantially reduced price for meals (including soup and dessert), and Veterans Administration Supportive Housing (VASH) employees donated their time to drive VA vans, allowing for additional residents to attend and reduced transportation costs. Several PPI staff members also made use of their local libraries for discounted aquarium tickets, further allowing their donations to be stretched further and more veterans to participate. In all, 21 veterans from the three communities took part in the day’s events.

“Our veteran residents are so important to us – we were so excited to offer them this kind of outing and demonstrate how much they mean to all of us at Peabody Properties,” said Jacquelyn B. Larivee, LICSW, Resident Services Manager for Peabody Properties. “It’s so affirming to see our employees come together and contribute gifts for the benefit of our veteran residents, and even more stirring to realize that what started as an initial show of support internally grew as a result of the example our employees set, encouraging other organizations to give something back too,” she added.
