Road To Responsibility (RTR), one of the region’s largest and most successful non-profit organizations, is pleased to announce that Kesha Garcia, Residential Assistant Vice President, has been named one of the recipients for Cape & Plymouth Business’s 2020 40 under 40 Award.

Garcia has nearly 12 years’ experience working at Road To Responsibility, ten of which in a supervisory position, and currently offers oversight to several clinical residential placement programs. She provides all individuals with opportunities to truly live in the community and acts as a liaison, advocate, and support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Through her efforts she is able to improve the lives of every person, no matter their background.

A resident of Marshfield, Garcia attended and graduated college with a major in IT, but started at Road To Responsibility in an entry-level position and fell in love with the people and the work. Rather than pursue a computer-related field, Garcia followed her passion, staying with RTR since 2008. In fact, she is currently working toward her M.Ed. at Endicott College, while working full-time, where she is enrolled in their Applied Behavior Analysis Program.

Since the beginning of her time with Road To Responsibility, she has risen through the ranks quickly and has grown to be a huge part of their organization’s mission. Garcia overseas a third of the residential placements for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities and provides direct supervision to Residential Directors. In this role, she ensures that each individual is able to set appropriate life goals and makes sure they are supported in these decisions. She also ensures that staff have the support and training the need so they can succeed in their roles as they build relationships and meet the needs of every individual. Garcia also contributes greatly to staff recruitment efforts, serving as an exemplary ambassador for the organization.

As a result of her computer-related background, Garcia has introduced some technological innovations that have improved the quality of care while also increasing the independence of the people served, helping them to engage in the community in numerous ways.
