David Harrison, creator and founder of Simply You! Productions, a non-profit organization offering motivational, self-development services and resources to help young people discover who they are and what they want from life is pleased to announce Gina Despres of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, as a board member and company secretary.
As a board member, working with fellow board members, she will help to oversee the general strategy and direction of the organization. In her role as secretary, she will be responsible for attending and recording meetings regularly scheduled by Simply You! Productions and will share meeting minutes with designated colleagues.
Despres retired in 2017 from a 30-year career as an English Language Arts teacher at the high school level. At various times throughout her career, she also taught night courses at the now defunct Newbury College.
Despres earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now known as UMASS – Dartmouth) and went on to receive a master’s degree in English literature from Bridgewater State College (now known at Bridgewater State University.)
An active volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Despres serves as its vice president and is a member of the Visitation Committee, visiting regularly with “shut-in” congregants. She is also a vocalist within the church’s Music Ministry.
Despres and her husband reside in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. She is a vocalist with a pop-rock band and performs regularly at area nightclubs and restaurants.
“David Harrison and I harbor the same belief that each human being is capable of greatness from within; the ‘Simply You’ approach emphasizes the practices of empathy and self-belief,” said Despres. “I am excited to be a part of this inspirational program and look forward to working with David and the fine team he has assembled.”
