On November 21, Davis Malm and shareholder George A. “Tony” Hewett hosted “Celebrating Heroes Among Us,” a special fall event dedicated to recognizing those who are serving or advocating for their communities and country. The event was held at the offices of Davis Malm in Boston.
The program featured Will Hatley, CPS, VRS, Employment Specialist and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veteran Employment Services, who spoke to the challenges veterans face when they leave the service, and his role in helping them find stability and employment. John T. Lynch, a shareholder at Davis Malm and President and Chairman of the Board of The Hundred Club of Mass., Inc., then spoke about the mission and goals of The Hundred Club – a non-profit that provides lifetime benefits to the surviving families of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts – and his involvement in the organization. As part of the event, Andrew Vogts and Victor Furtado, students of Berklee College of Music, performed some of their original works and entertained guests.
Mr. Hewett is a banking and credit attorney at Davis Malm and has extensive experience handling all phases of commercial lending transactions. His expertise ranges from closings and portfolio management activities to workouts involving bankruptcy, litigation and liquidation of assets. Outside of the office, Mr. Hewett’s passion is giving back to the community. In honor of his family’s long history of military service, Mr. Hewett focuses his charitable work on helping families of veterans. He actively raises scholarship money for children of veterans to attend Phillips Academy Summer Sessions, and heads Davis Malm’s charitable efforts with the Bedford Veterans Hospital.
