His team finished in sixth place with a time of 18:17.061.
In addition to competing, Mr. Sampson has held various volunteer positions within the HOCR for over 20 years. He served on the Board of Directors from 2006-2018, most recently as a managing director, and currently serves as the HOCR’s Corporate Counsel.
Mr. Sampson practices in the Intellectual Property area at Davis Malm, where he helps clients build, maintain and enforce patent and trademark portfolios in the U.S. and around the world. His patent work involves the full scope of representation from identification of patentable concepts to preparation and prosecution, through post-grant proceedings, and his opinion work addresses patentability, infringement and validity issues. Mr. Sampson’s active trademark practice focuses on various branding issues, including clearance and infringement searches and opinions, filing strategies for state, federal and international trademark registrations, licensing, usage guidelines to prevent inadvertent loss of rights, and enforcement matters.
Since its inception in 1965, the Head Of The Charles® Regatta has welcomed crew teams to the banks of the Charles River for the world’s largest two-day rowing competition. The event attracts tens of thousands of spectators seeking to witness over 11,000 athletes row in 1,900 boats across 61 events. The HOCR is hosted by the Cambridge Boat Club, which was established in 1909 to encourage boating and yachting in Boston.
