On September 18, Sherin and Lodgen hosted over 50 women attorneys and professionals for its annual Women’s Initiative event, “Doing Good Together.” The evening featured a presentation by award-winning sommelier and restaurant owner, Haley Fortier, followed by a wine tasting and reception to benefit CommonWealth Kitchen, a Dorchester-based non-profit kitchen incubating more than 50 community-based businesses.

Nancy S. Shilepsky, co-chair of the firm’s Employment Department and chair of the women’s initiative, and Beth A. Goldstein, partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department and vice-chair of the women’s initiative, welcomed guests and set the stage for Haley Fortier to discuss her career and the role of women in the restaurant and wine industry. Guests enjoyed a wine tasting featuring natural, female-produced wines.

Haley Fortier has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She opened haley.henry wine bar in August of 2016, which received acclaim from both local and national press and won both "Best of Boston" and "Best Wine Bar" in the first year of operation. In 2018, she opened nathalie, a wine bar focused on small production, natural and female produced wines in the Fenway neighborhood. In 2019, Haley Fortier was named one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Sommeliers of the Year.”

The mission of Sherin and Lodgen’s Women’s Initiative is to provide an internal network of support that fosters growth and achievement, while connecting and learning with outside organizations that directly support women and women’s causes. They offer in-house training programs, roundtable discussions and one-on-one mentoring sessions.
