Plymouth & Brockton Street Railway Company, now under new ownership, today announced John Cogliano of Foxboro, Massachusetts as president.

Cogliano, a former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation, is one of three partners to recently acquire the 131-year-old company, along with Pembroke entrepreneur Winthrop Sargent and CPA Paul Fuerst of Mansfield.

Originally from Canton, Cogliano has held top executive transportation positions in Massachusetts. He served as Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation and Chairman of the MBTA, Chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, and as Commissioner of the Massachusetts Highway Department.

Cogliano successfully managed multi-billion dollar complex transportation organizations where he implemented a series of reform initiatives that streamlined operations, saved millions of dollars, and reduced the delivery time of road and bridge construction projects.

A graduate of Boston College with a degree in Political Science and Economics, he later studied Administration and Management at Harvard University.

“P & B is an iconic institution with a long history of providing transportation service to customers,” said Cogliano. “I’m excited about the opportunity to serve as president and work with Win and Paul, to implement the necessary changes to further improve services for our valued customers.”
