Lisa Hillman Joins DLA Piper’s Intellectual Property and Technology Practice in Boston

DLA Piper announced today that Lisa Hillman has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology (IPT) practice as a partner in Boston.

Hillman’s practice includes domestic and foreign patent procurement and portfolio management, interference practice, client counseling on validity, infringement, freedom-to-operate, due diligence review and patent strategy matters.

She has broad experience in patent procurement and portfolio management in the areas of molecular biology, microbiology, fermentation technologies, human and veterinary diagnostics, personal diagnostics, proteomics, siRNA technologies, antibody technologies, CRISPR technologies, liposomes, biosensors, tissue scaffolds, agriculture, orthobiologics, medical devices, immunotherapy and pharmaceuticals. She represents small and large biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, as well as university clients and startups.

Hillman is the latest addition to the firm's IPT practice, which has also welcomed partners Andrew Serwin (San Diego), Peter Karanjia (Washington, DC), Brian O'Reilly, Michael Furrow (both of New York), Edward McAndrew (Wilmington), Tracy Shapiro (San Francisco) and Michael Jay (Los Angeles) this year.

Hillman joins from McDonnell, Boehnen, Hulbert & Berghoff LLP. She received her J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of the Law, her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
