Ed Mantilla, Ph.D.,

Ed Mantilla, Ph.D., has joined Womble Bond Dickinson’s Boston office as a science advisor. Ed uses his real-world background in chemistry and computer science to guide clients in patent applications, patent prosecution and patent portfolio management, both in the US and internationally.

Prior to joining the firm, Ed worked as a Senior Patent Agent at Thermo Fisher Scientific where he was responsible for the patent portfolio of the software, ion exchange, and chemistry consumables teams. He also worked as a quality assurance manager at a well-known insurance company where he supervised the day-to-day operations of thelab, and he has seven years of experience in software support. He has written extensively on chemistry and intellectual property issues.

Ed holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Seton Hall University. He currently is a JD student at New England Law, where he is expected to graduate in 2020.
