Harvard's Dr. Staci Gruber to Present at Women Grow: Boston Event

7/19/17

Dr. Staci Gruber, Director of the Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Core at McLean Hospital’s Brain Imaging Center and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, will present about cannabis research at Women Grow: Boston’s August 3 Signature Networking Event at the Sheraton Boston Hotel.

Dr. Gruber’s clinical research focus is applying neurocognitive models and brain imaging to better characterize risk factors for substance abuse and psychiatric conditions. In her most recent work, her lab examined the effects of chronic marijuana use on cognitive function in adolescents and adults, the results of which have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and been the basis of national and international symposia, press conferences, documentaries and news pieces, including features in the New York Times, NPR, and CNN’s documentary series “WEED” with Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

She also directs the newly launched MIND (Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery) Program at McLean Hospital. The program was designed to clarify the effects of medical marijuana on cognition, brain structure, function, and quality of life.

“We’re building an industry and creating laws around a plant whose potential benefits, harms and applications have been perverted by lies, greed and a racist War on Drugs for nine decades,” said Beth Waterfall, chairwoman of Women Grow: Boston. “Pioneers like Dr. Staci Gruber are lifting the veil on cannabis research and putting human interest before corporate and political greed by welcoming cannabis users into her laboratory and taking an unbiased look at this plant’s real effects on our bodies.”

Sponsored by Canna Care Docs and MCR Labs, the event takes place from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 3. For more information and to register, visit iflw.co/wg-boston.
