Hospitality Insurance Group’s Chairman E. Thomas McCabe Jr., to Step Down

5/25/17

After 32 years as a member of Hospitality Insurance Group’s Board Of Directors, E. Thomas McCabe Jr., of Westborough, Massachusetts, will be stepping down as Chairman.

Before joining Hospitality Insurance Group, Thom was a past President of Massachusetts Restaurant Association and former restaurant owner of Red Barn Restaurant in Westborough, MA, later known as Tom Foolery’s. He then became a Vice-Chair of The Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts (LLJUA) in 1985, until the conversion of the company to Hospitality Mutual in 2008, when he became Chairman.

“We really would like to thank Thom for all of his hard work and dedication to us as Chairman overseeing our growth from a single state to now operating in seven states,” says John W. Tympanick, President, and CEO of Hospitality Insurance Group.

Hospitality Insurance Group has announced the appointment of William T. McGrail of Clinton, Massachusetts, as its new Board of Directors’ Chairperson, who will succeed McCabe.

McGrail says, “I am looking forward to continuing Thom McCabe’s vision for the company working with a great board and CEO, John Tympanick.”

McGrail is no stranger to Hospitality Insurance Group, either. He had originally been with Hospitality Insurance Group as Director and Vice Chairperson when it was the LLJUA in 1996.

An active member of the community, McGrail has served as Chairman of the Clinton Hospital Board of Trustees, Chairman of the MA Reinsurance Plan, and Board member of the UMass Memorial Community Hospitals, Inc.

McGrail is a graduate of Saint Michael's College, Suffolk University Law School, Western New England University (MBA) and is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).

William T. McGrail’s first official meeting as Chairman was Thursday, May 11.

Among these executive changes, Hospitality Insurance Group's five-year veteran, Eric F. Piurkowski, CPA, CFO & Vice President of Finance, was also recently promoted to Senior Vice President.

Before joining Hospitality Insurance Group, Eric served as a Senior Audit Manager at Saslow, Lufkin & Buggy LLP in Avon, CT and as an Audit Manager at Deloitte in Hartford, CT.  Eric earned a bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT in 1998. Eric is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
