Sunstein Kann Murphy & Timbers announced that W. John Keyes, Ph.D., J.D. has joined the firm’s biotech practice group.

Dr. Keyes represents clients in a broad range of intellectual property and business issues including patent portfolio strategy and management and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB. He prosecutes domestic and international patent applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biological, diagnostic, and material science arts. Dr. Keyes also counsels clients concerning patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate.  He has represented companies in a broad range of industries including biological medical products, stem cell therapies, bioinformatics, petrochemicals, polymers, agrochemicals, industrial processes, nanotechnologies, batteries, ceramic materials, semiconductor fabrication, power systems, new materials, software, fuel cells, and LED’s.

Prior to joining SUNSTEIN, Dr. Keyes worked at an international law firm and at a patent boutique law firm.

Dr. Keyes earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chicago, and his J.D. from John Marshall Law School.
