DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Cara Nelson, a partner in the firm's Boston Real Estate practice, has been named president of CREW Boston. The appointment was formally announced in June and her term will continue through June 2017. The organization’s kick-off luncheon in September will feature Doug Poutasse of Bentall Kennedy in Boston, who will provide an update on trends in capital markets.

CREW Boston is a professional organization that promotes the advancement of women in commercial real estate by providing support, development, education and networking opportunities to more than 500 members in the local real estate community. The Boston chapter, created in 1982, is one of the oldest and largest in the global CREW Network, which is comprised of approximately 10,000 members and 70 chapters, including chapters in Canada and the United Kingdom.

In her legal practice, Nelson focuses on real estate acquisitions and dispositions and joint ventures, most recently spending significant amounts of time with foreign investors that are investing in US real estate. She closes transactions for clients in a variety of asset types, including retail, multi-family residential, office and industrial space.
