George Mykulak Joins Nelson Mullins as Partner

Business litigator George W. Mykulak has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as a partner in the Boston office where he will focus his national commercial litigation practice on franchise/distribution, contract/business tort, and real estate disputes. He joins the Firm after more than 16 years as a litigation partner at the Boston office of an Am Law 100 international firm.

An experienced first chair trial and appellate attorney, Mr. Mykulak has litigated in state and federal trial, appellate, bankruptcy, and tax courts in Massachusetts and regularly appears pro hac vice in judicial, administrative, and arbitral proceedings throughout the country. He has tried more than 30 jury and jury-waived cases to conclusion; appeared in approximately 40 appeals, one-third of which resulted in oral argument; and arbitrated or mediated more than 40 matters. Many of his cases are published decisions, and several are cases of first impression.

He joins the Nelson Mullins franchise and distribution law and litigation team of more than 20 attorneys who represent regional, national, and international franchisors, distributors, and multi-unit franchisees. The team is experienced in developing and modifying franchise systems, drafting franchise disclosure documents and agreements, franchise regulatory compliance, and franchise litigation. The Firm also provides franchise and distribution clients with a range of other business law services in the areas of corporate, employment, intellectual property, and real estate law.

Mr. Mykulak is a member of the litigation section and forum on franchising of the American Bar Association  and a member of the litigation sections of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Boston Bar Foundation Society of Fellows and a Litigation Counsel of America Fellow.  Active in pro bono and community activities, Mr. Mykulak is a hearing officer for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers and serves as president and director of the Lawyers Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness, which, among other things, oversees the Supreme Judicial Court’s Access to Justice Fellows Program. He was recently awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for his work with middle school students in low income areas.

Mr. Mykulak earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Yale University and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Boston College Law School.
