Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance Expands Aquatic Therapy Program at the Weymouth Club

2/23/21

Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, is expanding their Aquatic Therapy Program to include the Weymouth Club in Weymouth MA. Peak also offers the Aquatic Therapy at Healthtrax Health Club in Hanover and the Scituate Health and Racquet Club in Scituate MA.

The Aquatic Therapy is delivered by specially trained physical therapists in a pool setting. It can also be used in cases where individuals are in a great deal of pain and are not able to put full weight on limbs. The buoyancy of the water can reduce weight-bearing on the body by as much as 80%. It also has a positive impact on motion and flexibility, reduces pressure to joints, and can increase the blood flow to injured areas. Aquatic Therapy is a great way to gain motion, and in some cases, can help prepare a patient for land based therapy.

Common conditions appropriate for the pool include: Post-operation rehab of total joint replacements, Post-operative fractures, Arthritis of any joint, Sports re-training, Severe back pain, Post-op ligament surgeries (ACL, rotator cuff repairs), Balance disorders, Neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, and strokes and Parkinson’s disease.

“The beautiful pool at the Weymouth Club allows us to offer Aquatic Therapy to a greater number of our patients,” said Eric Edelman, PT, owner of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. “Aquatic Therapy is a powerful tool in our treatment protocol and we are pleased to expand it here on the South Shore.”
