2020 Holidays Reimagined at Assembly Row

11/30/20

Community Partnerships, Festive Activations and Photo Stops Safely Welcome Shoppers Throughout December

Assembly Row, Somerville’s fast-growing neighborhood, has announced plans for activities aimed to make the holiday season more convenient and festive for neighbors and shoppers while maintaining appropriate safety measures. A new “Deck The Cause” display of decorated holiday trees brings six local non-profits onto the property to share their message and raise much-needed funds, while throughout the neighborhood visitors will find varied outdoor seating options, including dining igloos and expanded patios for shopping pauses, coffee breaks and holiday dining.

“Deck The Cause” features trees decorated by local non-profits and creates a self-guided stroll throughout Assembly Row. Participating organizations include East Somerville Main Streets, Breakthrough Greater Boston, Somerville Media Center, RESPOND, Inc., Somerville Homeless Coalition and Teen Empowerment. At each tree location, visitors can scan a QR code to learn more about each non-profit and vote for their favorites. Each charity is receiving a donation from Assembly Row, as well as has an opportunity to earn more through the voting results. Both people’s choice and judge’s choice categories will award $2,500 each to the winning groups.

Throughout the property, visitors will encounter dynamic holiday window activations including lighting installations and artful displays to set the festive mood. One such installation is reminiscent of the famous fountains at the Bellagio Hotel creating motion, water and light to delight the viewer. Additionally, numerous “photo stops” with creative backdrops for capturing holiday memories can be found throughout including a larger-than-life kissing ball and a 25-foot holiday tree. To create community throughout the season, guests are encouraged to post images from their visits and tag @AssemblyRow.

Assembly Row offers a mix of fashionable retailers, multiple dining options, entertainment and amenities. Plus, with easy access via the MBTA Orange line stop on the property and by car right off I-93, it provides a convenient holiday location for families to spend the day outdoors while completing their seasonal shopping and errands. Free parking up to three hours is available on-site.
