“The Crisis” Tells the Story of Municipal and Industry Response to the Pandemic in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, One of the First Virus Hotspots in the U.S.

Digital Eyes Film and Boyd Technologies announced today, the inaugural episode of the recently premiered docuseries “Project Frontline” is now available for streaming. As part of a multi-platform digital release, the first installment of the four-part series entitled “The Crisis,” is now available on select transactional and subscription-based Video on Demand (VOD) platforms, as well as free streaming on the Project Frontline YouTube and Facebook pages.

“The Crisis” initially premiered via virtual screening event in late September and provides an inside look into the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic brought on by severe shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and testing equipment at hospitals in Massachusetts. Both factors playing into the formation of the Massachusetts Manufacturing Emergency Response Team which consists of leaders from healthcare, academia, state government, and the manufacturing industry working in tandem to combat the virus.

“We wanted to tell a story about how public and private sectors within the state came together in a time of crisis,“ said Matthew Boyd “Project Frontline” Producer and COO at Boyd Technologies. “As a medical device manufacturing company, Boyd was and still is uniquely positioned in the state to respond and deciding to document how we pivoted our services to provide PPE was truly in hopes of providing a valuable impact on how other manufacturers and supply chains approach trying times for years to come.”

The docuseries‘ production tracks the evolving catastrophe in Massachusetts from the inside out, featuring boots-on-the-ground stories about the mobilization of state infrastructure and manufacturers, including companies that are innovating solutions to the pandemic, many of whom have modified their production lines to help combat the lack of PPE.

“Believe it or not, many aspects of American life continue to accelerate due to the pandemic,” said PJ Moynihan of Digital Eyes Film and “Project Frontline” Producer and Director. “With regard to manufacturing, we have been stuck in old stories about industry that does not necessarily reflect the reality of the challenges and benefits. Documenting what has been mobilized here in Massachusetts in response to COVID thus far, serves as a case study for what is possible.”

Episode two of the series, “Building a Response,” will all be released mid-December and will feature the stories of companies in the state that rapidly modified their production to ensure adequate supplies of PPE in anticipation of a second wave of the pandemic.
