Activate Care Breaks Down Language Barriers to Better Address Spanish Speaking Citizens' Health Concerns

9/9/20

Activate Care®, a nationally recognized provider of community care coordination and referral management technology, announced its new Social Determents of Health (SDOH) MasterClass webinar series earlier this year. On Thursday, September 17, 2020, Activate Care will host its newest webinar as part of the SDOH MasterClass series: Focus on #TechQuity: Influencing health literacy, equity, and disparities with Spanish-speaking communities. This coincides with Activate Care’s cloud-based CareHub™ platform now being available in Spanish.

The webinar will discuss the need for healthcare systems to include/offer technology that breaks down language barriers to encourage inclusivity. As of 2018, over 41 million residents in the United States speak Spanish at home. Language barriers deter patients from seeking necessary health treatments. Spanish speaking Americans rely on technology that helps break down language barriers in the healthcare system in order to address their health concerns.

The hour-long session will be hosted by Alejandro Gutierrez, MPH, a Team Lead for Customer Success, and Katie Young, MPH, Vice President of Product at Activate Care. They will go into great depth discussing the new adaptation of the Spanish-speaking features in addition to how COVID-19 heightened the disconnect between healthcare and social services due to language barriers.
