North Shore-based Healthy Meal Plan Business Committed to Supporting At-Risk Youth in and Around the Dorchester, Mass. Community
Nutré Meal Plans, New England’s largest meal delivery service, is proud to announce their official partnership with Boston-based nonprofit, InnerCity Weightlifting (ICW). With locations in Dorchester and Cambridge, Mass., ICW serves at-risk youth within the community by instilling a sense of hope and path to success. The organization provides members with Olympic weightlifting training, academic support, adult mentorship and career preparation.
In an effort to provide healthy food and promote a sustainable way of living, Nutré Meal Plans will be donating 200 meals per week to the youth that the ICW staff works with. Throughout the months of June and July, the North Shore-based company will ensure mentees training at the Dorchester facility will receive complimentary, prepared meals that will fuel their energy to help further their progress in the program. InnerCity Weightlifting is a community that helps amplify voice and agency for people who have been robbed of it by the criminal justice system. Through their physical education and support tactics, people have the ability to grow into the person they strive to be through a community of support and opportunity.
“Organizations with missions similar to InnerCity Weightlifting is one of the major reasons why I love what Nutré stands for,” says CEO and co-founder of Nutré Meal Plans, Valentino Perrina. “In addition to our culinary services, our goal is to help people become their best self, and one way to start is by implementing better nutrition in a daily diet. In today’s cultural climate, it is important the community bands together to support one another, and I couldn’t be prouder to be a contributing factor in the younger generation’s self-discovery.”
InnerCity Weightlifting’s Dorchester location is the larger of their two facilities and serves roughly 70 of the proven-risk young people within the area and surrounding communities. Their staff is committed to providing networks and career opportunities to people in their program beyond personal training. ICW uses the gym to replace segregation and isolation with economic mobility and social inclusion, which disrupts the system that leads to urban street violence.
