Thanks to the support of 140 golfers and several premier sponsors, the first annual Lions Club of Fall River Golf Tournament, held on May 11th at the Fall River Country Club, was a great success, netting $15,000 in donations to the First Step Inn Capital Campaign.

The First Step Inn, located on Durfee Street in Fall River, is a safe shelter providing services to connect guests to housing, employment, behavioral health and an array of other services to successfully transition into the community and experience housing stability and an improved quality of life.

Premier sponsors of the successful event were BayCoast Bank, Center for Sight, Carl’s Collision, Saulino and Silvia, Partners Insurance, Avantus, and Plymouth-Bristol Pest Control.

The Lions Club of Fall River, Inc., founded on March 7, 1923, is one of the longest running clubs in the state of Massachusetts. The Lions International motto is “We Serve” and where there is a NEED, there is a LION. The Lions Club of Fall River is run by volunteers who live and work in the South Coast community.

Plans are presently in the works for the 2nd Annual Lions Club of Fall River Golf Tournament, slated for June of 2019.
