ALKU Continuously Striving to be a Best Place to Work

6/27/18

Boston Business Journal just recognized ALKU, a highly specialized consulting services firm, as the #2 Best Place to Work in the Medium company category for 2018. Last year, ALKU secured the #1 spot in the Small company category for the first time in its seven years of participation. This year ALKU grew by more than 30% and moved up to the medium category yet was still able to place within the top two for two years in a row. This goes to show that no matter ALKU’s growth, its ‘Have Fun Working Hard’ culture remains the same as well as the importance of putting its people first.

Winners of this award value their employees and go above and beyond to create an exceptional work environment. Two weeks ago, ALKU had over 80 new hires start in two days. Following tradition, ALKU brought the entire company, which was comprised of over 120 employees, to the awards ceremony. Bringing all employees, no matter tenure or position helps to instill a sense of pride and comradery that carries over into the every day work environment.

For the past seven years, ALKU has attended and looked forward to the BBJ Best Places to Work event. It is known throughout the company as one of the most exciting events of the year. Every year when accepting the award, the “Have Fun Working Hard – ALKU!” chant is heard loud and clear throughout the entire theatre hall. This event is another way to further validate the ‘Have Fun Working Hard’ culture that ALKU strives to achieve on a daily basis. How does ALKU continue to be a Best Place to Work year after year? They listen to their employees. They take the feedback provided in qualifying surveys taken by employees and implement strategies to improve the areas that need attention. Personnel development is the main priority at ALKU, where the people come first. This is seen throughout multiple programs put in place to recognize employees for their performance, as well as programs that encourage professional development.

“Am I a happy and proud member of the ALKrew or what? I was thrilled to be asked to accept the BBJ Best Places to Work award behalf of ALKU,” says Marissa Gomes, ALKU’s Internal Recruiting Manager. “This event is one of ALKU’s favorite annual events to attend and holding such an important role this year is something I'll never forget! Two weeks ago, our internal headcount grew by about a third. Good things happen to companies with good things going for them. Congratulations to all of the winners!”

The ALKrew and the ‘Have Fun Working Hard’ motto are what truly makes ALKU a great place to work. Not only has ALKU been named a Best Place to Work in Boston, but also ALKU was awarded the Washington Business Journal Best Place to Work award out of its Herndon, VA location. ALKU prides itself on receiving these awards as well as awards from other publications such as Inc, Forbes, Fortune, and Staffing Industry Analysts. ALKU strives to provide its employees with the best work environment possible, aiming to consistently assess their employee satisfaction through employee surveys every year.
