It's Time For Berkshire And McLane To Part Ways

Warren Buffett is known as one of the greatest investors and one of the greatest businessmen the world has ever known. For proof beyond the headlines, you need only look at his flagship company, Berkshire Hathaway(NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B). From the time Buffett began buying Berkshire stock in 1962, he has transformed it from being a struggling textile mill to being one of the largest publicly-traded companies in the US and the largest by market cap (at $489 billion) that is not a technology business. Even with Buffett’s acumen, though, there can be opportunities overlooked. Case-in-point, one of the conglomerate’s major segments, McLane Company, makes today for an excellent prospect for Berkshire to offload so that the business can, instead, focus on more attractive growth elsewhere.
