CyberGuard 360 solution prepares title insurance company for 23 NYCRR 500 compliance
Absolute Logic, a firm providing technical support and technology consulting to Connecticut and New York businesses since 1991, recently added the Deer Park, NY based Title Save to their client list.
Specifically, Absolute Logic worked with Title Save in implementing the CyberGuard 360 suite, which employs anti-ransomware technology that blocks ransomware and also can restore deleted or encrypted files. This solution was developed by Absolute Logic for companies such as Title Save who are bound by new, strict compliance requirements for businesses and organizations impacted by the recent New York State Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation (23 NYCRR 500).
This new legislation impacts any organization overseen by New York’s Department of Financial Services (DFS), and is intended to anticipate, address, and thwart cybercriminals. The first round of requirements needed to be met by August 28, 2017.
Stephen H. Woods is the founder and President of TitleSave Agency, Inc. (www.titlesave.com), a Licensed New York State Title Insurance Agency. “We’ve always been at the forefront of compliance,” he said, “When the issue of cyber security and this regulation came up, we found it to be pretty overwhelming. We have many third party vendors and this provides a seamless solution for us. For most of us, managing vendors and their compliance can be the most challenging part of what we do.”
He said, “Absolute Logic gave us the easiest, most straightforward path to meeting these compliance deadlines.’
His firm’s clients are real estate attorneys, investors, developers, realtors and lenders. “In many cases people borrow money for the acquisition or financing of real estate; attorneys play a major role in decisions and who the entrust. They are tasked with protecting the security of their clients, and in seeking titles for both commercial and residential real estate, as well as mortgages, this new regulation affects virtually every transaction.”
TitleSave serves clients from Montauk up through Niagara Falls, and is an Policy agent of Chicago Title a subsidiary Fidelity National Title Company. Stephen Woods founded this company 12 years ago. “This technology enables me to do this part right. Cyber security is the most daunting of any compliance.” His firm was one of the first in New York State to become Best Practices Compliant and will continue to be a leader in compliance as it is laid out in the New York market.44 Old Ridgefield Road, Suite 216, Wilton, CT, and also operates a satellite location at 300 International Drive, Suite 100, in Williamsville, NY.
