Transitioning of ownership: Former Office Gallery owners Gwen and Allen Wluka are seen here with Michael and Hilary Troia, new owners

Office Gallery International, a Norwood, MA-based leading provider of office furniture for the business community since 1989, has new ownership. The 27-year-old business has been purchased by Pembroke residents Michael and Hilary Troia.

Office Gallery was sold to the Troias by Allen and Gwen Wluka of Foxboro, MA, for an undisclosed sum. The Troias are the new owners but they are no strangers to the business they have purchased. Both have played key roles in the company’s growth over the years.

Michael Troia, who now serves as the company’s President, is a 37-year veteran of the furniture industry. He first joined Office Gallery in 1995, and has been instrumental in guiding the company through a period of strong growth. Troia began his career in office furniture and design in 1979 with Workbench and eventually joined Scandinavian Design in Natick. He was instrumental in developing their Office Gallery division and remained with them until 1989. After a few years with Jesper Office Furniture, he took a position as General Manager of the Furniture Division of Macy’s department store in Braintree.

In fact, it was at Macy’s that he met his future wife and business partner, Hilary, who was with Macy’s from 1992 to 2002. During her tenure, she held key roles including Vice-President/General Manager, Regional Merchandise Manager and Divisional Sales Manager. She created a work environment for a team of 300 sales and support associates, and achieved top 5% profit performance over 100 locations. Her career path led her also to Office Gallery International, from 2004 to 2009, where as an Account Executive she generated $725,000 in new business for the firm. Her retail experience also includes Lechmere, Ralph Lauren, The Container Store and Verizon Wireless/Wireless City.

The new owners have plans for further expansion of the popular and established business, including adding personnel and targeting marketing to new industry groups. In addition to a wide range of furniture and related products, Office Gallery is further expanding its consulting and design services related to the office environment. They have invested in new technology for their showroom, in part by incorporating Tecslate, an interactive widescreen display which provides a way for clients to see exactly what their redesigned office will look like as opposed to the older, traditional means of sketching on graph paper and taping a section on the floor of an office.
