Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance recently donated services to runners at the finish line of the South Shore Half Marathon in Norwell.
Five of Peak’s physical therapists provided free massage and stretching for the runners post-race. Liz Fallon PT, Jackie Defreitas DPT, Rachel Laufer DPT, Laura Barron DPT and Richard Brickman DPT all participated in treating more than 70 runners. Three staff members Katy Mercurio DPT, Shawn Wells PTA and Practice Manager Shannon Delaney ran the race.
The third annual half marathon was held on Sunday November 6 and 1,466 runners completed the course. Scott McArthur of Cambridge MA finished first with a time of 1:12:59.
“The South Shore Half Marathon is a difficult course with a good number of hills,” said Eric Edelman, PT, Founder of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. “The rain and cold wind made the course more challenging for the runners and we were happy to assist so many of the athletes with their recovery at the finish line.”
