VERC Enterprises, a leading convenience store and Mobil/Gulf gasoline operator with locations throughout Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire has partnered with the Boston Higashi School in Randolph to provide students with employment opportunities.
The Higashi School is highly recognized for its mission to help children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder learn to reach their full potential. Its unique educational philosophy incorporates a broad and balanced curriculum, including academics, art, music, physical education, technology and social education.
VERC Enterprises has entered into an open-ended partnership with the school whereby several students will perform tasks at the VERC Randolph Mobil and the VERC Merchants Park Gulf for several hours one day a week. Responsibilities will include cleaning, trash disposal, window washing and stocking coolers. A teacher from the Higashi School will accompany the students during their work hours.
“The Boston Higashi School is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with VERC Enterprises in a collaborative effort to offer vocational options and job skills training for our students with Autism Spectrum Disorder,” said Paul Fanning, Chief Development Officer with the Boston Higashi School. “We are well aware of VERC’s longtime commitment to the hiring of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and other life challenges, and are privileged to become part of the team.”
“We are excited about our partnership with the Higashi School,” said Barry Ahern, Director of Operations at VERC Enterprises. “This ongoing program will provide employment opportunities for a large number of students over the years.”
